Organ control systems
We offer a logical and consistent family of products for interfacing organ consoles to virtual organ packages such as Hauptwerk. Our flagship MIDI product is the IDC-48, a single-board solution for encoding and driving up to 48 powered stop units (Stop Action Magnets or SAMs). Our product family also comprises two encoders, which convert switch and pedal movements into MIDI, and two decoders, which either control lighted pistons and stops or move SAMs.
All of our boards can be powered from a standard 12v DC supply. They do not require any configuration files or use of MIDI Sysex commands. They are configured by jumpers and DIP switches, which are fully explained in the instructions.
Each of our boards can operate independently of the others. One board is sufficient to get you started: you don't need central CPU boards, nor do you need separate output drivers.
For an example of how these cards can be used together, take a look at our Compton console conversion.

Integrated MIDI stop controller
The IDC-48 is a complete solution for encoding and driving up to 48 Stop Action Magnets from Hauptwerk. When a stop is moved by hand, the IDC-48 sends a corresponding message to Hauptwerk. When a stop is moved under software control, the IDC-48 energises the relevant magnet. Once the switch moves, the magnet remains energised for a further 50ms (to minimise "bounce") and is then switched off.
If for any reason the physical stop fails to move, the IDC-48 will turn off the magnet after a 500ms time-out, and send a message to Hauptwerk to return the virtual stop to its original position.
Compared to conventional drivers which send fixed-length pulses to the stop magnets, the IDC-48 reduces power consumption and minimises stress on the stop mechanisms. We are aware of only one competitive product offering this feature. The IDC-48 is by far the more compact (at 214 x 69mm) and cost-effective.
Although a single IDC-48 will suffice for most classical organ consoles, multiple boards can be "daisy-chained" together via MIDI for theatre organs and the largest classical instruments.
We and DesignTech Systems believe that, on account of its small size, ease of configuration and intelligent power management, the IDC-48 is the best solution available for controlling Stop Action Magnets from Hauptwerk.
